Joan is a retired dentist, now reborn as a visual artist. She finds that a sense of touch, an awareness of form and contour, is a constant thread running through and connecting both aspects of her life.  

Her interests occupy a space between movement and stillness, between organic growth and the inevitability of decay.  She works in all media with a common enjoyment of repetition and the tactile involvement of making over long periods of time.
